Shepton Mallet residents are being given four chances to take their concerns directly to neighbourhood police over the next two weekends.

Officers will hold sessions at the Art Bank, Shepton Mallet Library, the Sunday Market and Collett Park between Friday, 21 August and Sunday, 30 August.

The first takes place at the Art Bank Cafe on High Street this Friday, 21 August, from 10.30 am until noon.

Avon and Somerset Police says the neighbourhood team will be there to listen to concerns, offer advice and discuss issues affecting people locally.

A second drop-in will be held at Shepton Mallet Library in Market Place on Saturday, 29 August, between 10 am and 11.30 am.

Police say residents can use the session to ask for information or advice, raise a local issue or simply meet officers working in the area.

The team will then be out twice the following day.

Officers are due at Shepton Mallet Sunday Market at Market Cross on Sunday, 30 August, from 10 am until 12.30 pm, where residents will again be able to raise local concerns and ask for crime prevention advice.

They will then move to Circus in the Park at Collett Park from 1.30 pm until 4 pm.

Police say officers at the park event will be available to answer questions and hear about concerns within the community.

The four appearances give residents several opportunities to speak to the neighbourhood team without having to make a separate appointment or visit a police station.

The dates are:

  • Friday, 21 August, 10.30 am to noon — Art Bank Cafe, 13 High Street
  • Saturday, 29 August, 10 am to 11.30 am — Shepton Mallet Library, Market Place
  • Sunday, 30 August, 10 am to 12.30 pm — Shepton Mallet Sunday Market, Market Cross
  • Sunday, 30 August, 1.30 pm to 4 pm — Circus in the Park, Collett Park

Residents who have an immediate emergency should continue to call 999.
