Marley Wyatt, the resilient 22-month-old from Shepton Mallet, has finally returned home after a gruelling year in and out of hospitals.

Diagnosed with the rare genetic liver condition Alpha-1 Antitrypsin deficiency at just seven weeks old, Marley's journey has been nothing short of a battle.

The firstborn of Rosie and Clayton Wyatt, Marley's condition took a sharp downturn in September 2023, leading to an urgent need for a liver transplant. After months of critical care in Bath and Birmingham hospitals, Marley received his lifesaving transplant on June 5th, 2024, at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Now back in Shepton Mallet, Marley's return home marks a significant milestone, but the fight isn't over. His recovery involves overcoming complications like rotavirus, acute kidney injury, and fluctuating liver function, demanding ongoing medical attention.

To help ease the burden on the Wyatt family, Marley's great aunt, Jan Christopher, has launched a GoFundMe campaign. This initiative aims to provide financial relief and allow Rosie and Clayton to focus on their son's recovery and finally spend some quality family time together.

"This has been a very traumatic time for Rosie and Clayton, dealing with such a critical illness in their first-born child," shared Jan Christopher. "I set up the GoFundMe page to help ease some of the pressure and stress they're experiencing."

In a recent update, Jan Christopher shared the joy of having Marley home and expressed immense gratitude for the support received so far. Despite the positive strides, the family still faces a long road ahead, and community support remains crucial.

Any additional contributions through the fundraiser will significantly impact their ability to manage Marley's ongoing health needs.
