Shepton Mallet Repair Café shows the impact of local grants
By Laura Linham 28th Jan 2026
Shepton Mallet Town Council has praised the success of the town's Repair Café after awarding it a Community Group Grant — and is urging more local projects to apply as the next funding round opens this week.
The Repair Café received the grant in November 2025 to help cover essential tools and running costs. Run entirely by volunteers, the café fixes broken household items that might otherwise end up in landfill — saving waste and bringing the community together.
A council spokesperson said: "The Repair Café is a brilliant example of what local funding can do — practical, popular, and great for Shepton. If your group has a good idea, we want to hear from you."
The next round of Community Group Grants opens on Friday, 2 February 2026, with funding available for projects that benefit the town.
Full details and application forms are available on the Shepton Mallet Town Council website.
