Shepton Mallet pump track hosts free Team Rubicon event
By Laura Linham 10th Mar 2026
Residents in Shepton Mallet are being invited to take part in a free skateboarding and scooter session this week as Team Rubicon visits local schools before heading to the town's pump track.
The group will run workshops with pupils during the day on Wednesday, 11 March, before opening a community session at the Shepton Mallet Pump Track from 2:30 pm.
Organisers say the afternoon gathering is open to residents of all ages, with people encouraged to come along, watch demonstrations, and try the track themselves.
The visit is designed to introduce young people to wheeled sports including skateboarding and scootering, while also encouraging wider community use of the outdoor facility.
Residents attending the afternoon session will be able to meet the Team Rubicon coaches, see tricks and skills demonstrations, and take part in informal riding sessions on the pump track.
The event also aims to highlight the pump track as a free local resource for exercise and outdoor activity.
Organisers say the community session will be particularly welcoming for people who have not yet visited the track, offering a chance to try it out in a relaxed setting.
The Shepton Mallet Pump Track is already used by local riders and forms part of the town's growing outdoor recreation spaces.
