Shepton Mallet Prison is bringing history to life once again with its latest Evening Behind Bars event, True Crimes Victorian Times, set to take place on Wednesday, 26 February.

This immersive experience will delve into the prison's Victorian past, exploring the lives of former inmates and the harsh punishments they faced. Guest speaker Dave Cable, a historian, researcher, and author, will share insights into the crimes and fates of four individuals who once served time at Shepton Mallet Prison, raising the question: did the punishment fit the crime?

Visitors will have the chance to step back in time and reflect on the realities of Victorian justice while uncovering stories of those who lived – and suffered – within the prison's walls.

Tickets are priced at £10 per adult, with a 50% discount available for Annual Pass and Officer Pass holders. The price includes a complimentary hot, cold, or alcoholic drink upon arrival.

For more details and to book tickets, visit Shepton Mallet Prison's website.
