Shepton Mallet Neighbourhood Policing Team will hold a free BikeRegister event on Sunday 18 January 2026, giving residents the chance to get their bikes security marked and registered to help deter theft and aid recovery.
The drop‑in session runs from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Shepton Mallet Skate Park, Old Wells Road, BA4 5XN. Officers will be available to mark bikes and sign owners up to the national BikeRegister database, a tool used by police forces to reunite lost or stolen bikes with their rightful owners.
"It's quick, it's free, and it helps keep your property safe," organisers said. Cyclists of all ages are welcome to bring their bikes along, and residents are encouraged to spread the word.
Registering your bike helps police identify and return stolen property, and can act as a deterrent to thieves when a bike carries a unique registered mark.
