Shepton Mallet market launches young trader scheme
By Laura Linham 16th Apr 2026
Shepton Mallet Sunday Market has launched a new Young Trader scheme in a bid to help young people turn business ideas into something real.
The scheme has been created in partnership with Shepton Mallet Town Council.
The first young trader to be introduced through the scheme is Mitch from Fuzzy Pig Farm, a 13-year-old who runs the business with his mum, Charly.
They sell products including natural pet treats and farm-fresh eggs.
Organisers said that is exactly the kind of enterprise the Young Trader scheme is designed to support.
Under the scheme, young traders must attend four dates at Shepton Mallet Friday Market to qualify for a free Sunday market pitch, subject to application and approval.
Shepton Mallet Sunday Market said the project has been made possible through continued support from Shepton Mallet Town Council.
In the post, organisers said Mitch is "just the beginning" and encouraged people to put forward other young entrepreneurs who may want to take part.
