Shepton Mallet Lido has opened for the summer season today.

The outdoor pool in Shaftgate Avenue confirmed it is "open and ready" for what it called "the ultimate summer of 2026".

In a post to swimmers, the lido said: "Today's the day. We are open and ready for the ultimate summer of 2026. Let's make it one to remember."

Visitors are being encouraged to pre-book swims through the lido's app before travelling.

Membership options are also now available for those planning regular visits through the season.

The reopening will be welcome news for local swimmers after months of uncertainty around leisure provision in Somerset.

Shepton Mallet Lido was one of five former Fusion Lifestyle sites affected when the operator went into administration earlier this year.

Somerset Council has provided interim funding to keep the former Fusion sites open while it works to appoint a new leisure provider from July.

The lido remains Shepton Mallet's main public leisure facility and is a popular summer spot for families, lane swimmers and outdoor swimming fans.
