Shepton Mallet house prices fall by almost 8%
By Laura Linham 18th Jun 2026
Shepton Mallet house prices fell by almost 8% in the 12 months to April 2026, according to Land Registry figures reported in the latest Somerset property data. Homes in the BA4 postcode area sold for an average of £326,543.80 over the year, down from £354,639.20 the year before.
The annual change of -7.92% puts Shepton Mallet among the sharper house price falls listed for Somerset postcode areas. The figures cover completed sales in the 12 months to the end of April 2026 and are based on Land Registry data.
The BA4 average remains above several Somerset areas, including BA16 Street, where homes sold for an average of £283,933.80. It is also above BA6 Glastonbury, where the average was £315,858.60, but below BA5 Wells, where homes sold for an average of £384,235.50.
Across the nearby area, Wells was the only one of those four local markets to record annual growth, with prices up 4.33%. Street saw a fall of 2.15%, while Glastonbury dropped by 6.06%.
The Shepton Mallet figure means the average BA4 sale price was £28,095.40 lower than the previous year. The data does not explain why prices changed, and average sale prices can be affected by the type, size and number of homes sold during the period.
