Shepton Mallet: Greg James to cycle through town today
By Laura Linham 13th Mar 2026
BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James is expected to cycle through Shepton Mallet today (Friday, 13 March) as part of his major fundraising challenge for Comic Relief.
The presenter set off from Weymouth this morning on the latest stage of his Longest Ride — a 1,000-kilometre tandem cycling journey across the UK that will finish in Edinburgh next week.
After travelling through Dorset earlier in the day, James is scheduled to reach Somerset around lunchtime. He is expected to pass through Sherborne between 12 pm and 12.30 pm before continuing north.
His route will then take him through Wincanton and Bruton before heading towards Evercreech and into the centre of Shepton Mallet.
Spectators are expected to line streets along the route as the BBC Radio 1 presenter cycles through towns and villages on the tandem, with guest riders joining him for different sections of the journey.
The challenge aims to raise money for Comic Relief, which funds projects tackling poverty and hardship in the UK and around the world.
Further details about the exact time James will reach Shepton Mallet have not yet been confirmed.
