Shepton Mallet Football Club experienced a rollercoaster week, achieving three impressive victories and one narrow defeat.

On Saturday, 13th April, the team ventured to Torpoint Athletic near Plymouth, where early excitement unfolded as Mallet's Ponsillo was brought down in the box, leading Sloggett to convert the penalty, drilling the ball into the bottom right corner.

The match featured several attempts by Shepton to extend their lead, with Braithwaite and top scorer Charlie Bateson making notable efforts, but the scoreline stood at 0-1 by halftime. The intensity persisted into the second half, with Ponsillo earning a yellow card, but goalkeeper Sam Jepson's critical double save highlighted his prowess. Substitute Legge clinched a second goal for Shepton, sealing the match at 0-2.

The momentum continued into Tuesday, 16th April, when Shepton clashed with Oldland Abbotonians at the Aitchison Playing Field. Ponsillo quickly made his mark by scoring in the 3rd minute. The game tilted further in Shepton's favour following the dismissal of an Oldland player. Further goals from Callum Gould, Bateson (who netted twice), and Sloggett rounded off a dominant 5-0 victory.

These victories boosted Shepton to 6th in the league, but a subsequent 2-1 loss to Buckland Athletic on Thursday, 18th April, dropped them to 7th.

This Saturday, 20th April, marks Shepton's final home match of the season against league leaders Falmouth Town at Shepton Mallet Playing Fields, coinciding with Community Day. Fans are urged to support their team, with tickets priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.

The reserves have also shone this season, being crowned League Champions and triumphing in the Tony Baxter Shield against Evercreech Rovers with a 3-0 victory at Southfields Stadium, Radstock.

Looking ahead, the first team is set to compete in the Final of the Les Phillips Cup against Barnstaple Town at Tiverton Town FC on Sunday, 12th May.
