A local resident has described the feeling when a 3.2-magnitude earthquake was felt near Shepton Mallet last night.

The British Geological Survey has confirmed that the epicentre of the quake was Huntworth, near Bridgwater, though there was also a 4.5-magnitude quake measured at Beaminster in Dorset.

Shepton Mallet Nub News spoke to one local resident, who said: "I first asked my son what the hell he was doing as there was a massive bump and bang which confused him too.

"We both went around all the rooms in the house for something that had fallen or blown up and then went outside looking for a car crash or something."
