Police in Castle Cary have seized suspected cocaine and cannabis, along with weapons including knives and knuckle dusters, during raids on three properties last week.

The operation took place at about 6.30 a.m. on Wednesday, 24 July, and involved neighbourhood officers working alongside colleagues from CID, intelligence units, and the Remedy team, with additional support from voluntary Special Constables.

During the operation, three men and two women were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of class A and B drugs. The suspects, all in their 30s and 40s, have been released under investigation as further enquiries are conducted.

In addition to drugs and weapons, officers confiscated cash, mobile phones, and suspected counterfeit designer bags and clothing. Acting Neighbourhood Sergeant Adam Marsden emphasised the positive impact of the operation, stating, "Taking drugs and weapons off the street can only be a good thing for our community. The supply of drugs causes a great deal of harm to individuals, families, and the associated crime and anti-social behaviour affects the wider community."

Sgt Marsden also encouraged public involvement, noting, "We will always listen to and act on information from members of the public, although it can take some time to build up the evidence we need to apply to the courts for a warrant."

Public information is crucial in helping to target drug dealers and address the crime and disorder affecting local communities. To report drug-related crime, visit the police website.
