A Shepton Mallet road will close to traffic on Friday, 28 August while a crane is used to lift a heavy water system. Garston Street will also be closed on Tuesday, 1 September and Wednesday, 2 September, making three days of closures in total.

Somerset Council's temporary traffic order covers Garston Street from its junction with Kilver Street Hill to its junction with Quarr. The affected section measures around 398 metres.

The council says the closure is required to allow Drinks Brothers to operate a crane for the lifting operation. Each of the three dates is listed as a full-day closure, running between midnight and 11.59 pm.

The legal traffic order became effective on Wednesday, 19 August and allows the restrictions to be put in place while the work is carried out. Drivers will need to use an alternative route while Garston Street is shut.

Drinks Brothers is based at the Showerings Cider Mill in Kilver Street, close to the section of Garston Street affected by the closure. Companies House lists the firm as a manufacturer of cider and other fruit wines, alongside other drinks production activities.

The first closure is scheduled for Friday, 28 August, with Garston Street then due to reopen before the further closures on 1 and 2 September. Somerset Council's notice says the three dates are required for the crane operation.
