Police patrols in Shepton Mallet reduce complaints about anti-social driving

Police in Shepton Mallet say increased patrols around a local car wash have helped reduce reports of anti-social vehicle use.
Concerns were raised earlier this month about drivers using the area near the car wash and surrounding roundabout as a gathering spot — with reports of engines being revved, cars drifting, and racing taking place.
The issue was first logged on 4 June 2025, and officers responded by stepping up patrols in the area. Since then, police say the number of calls about the issue has dropped.
In an update, neighbourhood officers confirmed that continued patrols appear to be having an impact, with fewer complaints coming in.
A spokesperson said police will continue to monitor the area over the coming weeks and are urging anyone with further concerns or information to get in touch via 101 or report online.
The issue was treated as a priority under neighbourhood policing, with officers aiming to reduce disruption for local residents and discourage anti-social driving behaviour.
