Plans to convert a barn in Leigh-on-Mendip into three homes have been resubmitted to Mendip District Council.

A planning application for prior approval for a proposed change of use of an agricultural building to three dwellinghouses (Class C3) and for associated operational development on land at the rear of Ivy Cottage, Quarry Lane, Leigh-on-Mendip, has been submitted by Mrs J Hudson.

The proposal is to convert the barn into three single-storey, two-bedroom homes, each with a home office.

Prior approval permission was given for the same proposal in 2017 and a lawful proposed development certificate was granted the year afterwards.

However, the approved works would not be completed within three years, so the applicant is re-applying to allow more time for the work to be done.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been submitted to Mendip District Council this week include:

Proposed single-storey rear extension to replace lean-to extension to dwelling at Windy Farm, Weston Town, Evercreech, is wanted by Mr and Mrs Crispin Harris.

Erection of single-storey side and rear extension, erection of double garage, and conversion and erection of existing garage at Gales Court, Bath Road access to Sewerage Works, Stratton-on-the-Fosse, has been applied for by Mr Paul Lewis.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been decided by Mendip District Council this week include:

Replace existing porch with larger construction to include utility facilities at 6 Leighton Close, Evercreech, by Mrs Janet Banks has been approved.

Replace existing conservatory with a two-storey rear extension to a detached dwelling and extension to existing garage at Ellerker House, Weymouth Road, Evercreech, by Mr and Mrs Andy and Anne Sugg has been approved.
