Pilton Village Hall shop plans are given the green light

Plans to add a shop at Pilton Village Hall and Working Mens' Club have been given the go ahead by Mendip planners.

An application by Mr S Finlay for the change of use of part of the existing club and village hall to Class A1 convenience store at the building in St Mary's Lane, Pilton, has been approved.

Also approved has been a separate proposal at the site for external alterations to the building to include change of existing double door to single automatic door, change of side door to steel secure door, and the building of an external plant and equipment building.

Other planning applications submitted in the Shepton Mallet area this week include:

Tree Preservation Order works T1 - Thuja - crown lift to 25ft over drive, T2 - Thuja - reduce branches towards roof by 2m/to growth points, T3 - Cypress - remove low limb towards drive, T4 - Laurel - cut back to boundary and top by 2m, T5 - Laurel - remove large front limb towards house and cut back from pavement, T6 - Yew tree - cut back to boundary as over pavement, T7 - Holly tree - cut back to boundary as over pavement, all pines within TPO group to have major deadwood removed at 6 Carlton Court, Princes Road, Shepton Mallet, are wanted by Mrs Burman.

Erection of a storage building (retrospective) at the Royal Bath And West Showground, Prestleigh Hill, Prestleigh, has been applied for by the Royal Bath and West Society.

An application for a proposed lawful development certificate for a temporary polytunnel, a permanent summerhouse and a greenhouse at 12 Dalleston, Binegar, has been submitted by Mrs Lynne Morgan.

Erection of domestic garage and hobby workshop building on land at Bath Road, Oakhill, has been applied for by Mr Gabriel Ralls.

Change of use of land to a travellers' pitch on land at Beggars Roost, Pylle Road, Pilton, is wanted by Mr Julian Kanssen.

Erection of a single storey rear extension, which would extend beyond the rear wall of the original house by four metres, with a maximum height of four metres and an eaves height of 2.55 metres at 12 Martins Paddock, Cranmore, has been applied for by Mr Robert Curwen-Reed.

Proposed new driveway to form the main approach to South Hill House at Piers Road to Southill House, West Cranmore, is wanted by Mr and Mrs James Lambert.

An application for a non-material amendment to permission 2019/1341/HSE to vary wall finish to render on north and east elevations at Totterdown Farm, Totterdown Lane, Pilton, has been submitted by Ms S Kearle.

Single storey rear extension, first floor extension and platform to raised garden at Woolstone House, Springers Hill, Coleford, is wanted by Mr Steve Williams.

Applications decided in the Shepton Mallet area this week include:

Retrospective application for the creation of hard standing for vehicle parking on an area of land which was previously part of a track and some grassland plus erection of 8m high floodlight at Bridge Farm Shop, Bridge Farm, Fosse Way, Pylle, by Mr Jonathan Thorner has been approved.

Construction of B1/B2 business units, with associated container storage, includes provision of new road access point and parking area at Cross Keys Motor Service, Fosse Way, Lydford-on-Fosse, by Mr Gary Morice has been approved.

New industrial building to create three units on land at the Crown Trading Estate, Shepton Mallet, by Mr R Lintern has been withdrawn.

Installation of gates at Stratton Farm, High Street, Stoney Stratton, by Daniela McCarthy has been withdrawn.

Internal and external alterations to include blocking up external door and new slate roof to annex lean-to (proposed kitchen) at Bowlish Grange, Forum Lane, Shepton Mallet, by Mr and Mrs Webb have been approved.

Application for approval of details reserved by conditions 4 (hard and soft landscaping scheme), 6 (construction management plan), 7 (travel plan), 8 (surface water drainage system), 9 (external lighting), 18 (contaminated land investigation) and 19 (contaminated land remediation scheme) of planning permission 2018/1933/FUL (additional drainage info rec'd 22/10/19) on land next to Dunford Builders Ltd, Southwood, by Mr Dunford has been approved.

Two-story side extension at 3 St Bartholomew's Cottages, Cranmore, by Amber Strong has been approved.

Proposed works to a tree with a Tree Preservation Order:- M1339 - T1 - Ash Tree - Remove dead branch overhanging into garden at 75 Compton Road, Shepton Mallet, by Mr Peter Hillman have been approved.

Proposed extension over single storey element of existing dwelling at Highthorn Cottage, 4 Beardly Batch, Church Lane, Cannard's Grave, Shepton Mallet, by Mrs Hayley Dawkins has been approved.

Extension to existing residential dwelling, associated demolition works and associated internal alterations at Donegal Cottage, Kale Street, Batcombe, by Therresa Doherty has been approved.

Proposed works to tree/s in a Conservation Area: Black Pine (BP) fell due to condition. Lawsons Cypress (LC) fell due to condition and potential damage to wall and grave, Sugar Maple (M) fell as tree is dead at the Church Of All Saints, Bath Road, Oakhill, by Mr John Bloomfield require a Tree Preservation Order.

Removal of hedgerow to facilitate the use of the land as an agricultural showground on land at Dark Lane, Shepton Mallet, by Mr Ian Harvey has been withdrawn.

An application for approval of details reserved by condition 5 (surface water drainage system) and condition 8 (hard and soft landscaping) on planning consent 2019/1171/FUL on land at Summerhill Lane, West Compton, by E Wooliams has been approved.
