A documentary warning about the risks posed by climate and nature breakdown is to be screened in Shepton Mallet next month.

The People's Emergency Briefing will be shown at St Paul's Junior School on Tuesday, 6 October, with the event running from 7 pm until 9.15 pm.

The 50-minute film examines potential risks to the UK from climate and nature breakdown, including the effects on food security, extreme weather, public health, the economy and national security.

It brings together contributions from ten UK experts and was first screened in November 2025 to an audience including MPs, peers, business leaders and faith leaders.

The Shepton Mallet screening is intended to give local residents the chance to see the briefing and consider the issues raised closer to home.

The event carries a 16+ age guideline.

The film focuses on the wider implications of environmental change rather than a single local issue, looking at how pressures on food production, health, infrastructure and the economy could affect communities across the country.

The Shepton screening is due to take place at St Paul's Junior School from 7 pm to 9.15 pm on Tuesday, 6 October 2026.
