The organiser of the fuel protest in Shepton Mallet on Monday says he hasn't ruled out the possibility of organising another one.

While other protests happened on motorways around the country, minibus driver Chris Elliott organised the event at Shepton Mallet Tesco to protest against the rising cost of fuel.

The event gained coverage on ITV West Country, and Chris alps appeared on the Jeremy Vine show.

Around 20-25 people turned out to make their feelings known, and Chris said that the majority of people passing were supportive of the action.

"There wasn't quite as many people as I had hoped for, but we certainly got our point across," he said. "And we even had support from from people who had come to fill up, but because of the protest had to go elsewhere, and from the Tesco management who came out and offered their assistance.

"Ultimately we are hoping to lower the fuel prices, but I'm realistic. We just wanted to raise awareness.

"I'm not a great protester, and had there been a national protest nearer to me I probably would have just gone to that, but there wasn't so I organised my own, and I thought that it would give other people who felt the same the chance to make their feelings known too.The rising costs of fuel is affecting us all.

"If you had asked me on Monday morning if I would organise another protest I would have said no, but now I definitely am not ruling it out."
