Shepton Mallet Town Council is inviting residents to the opening of the new shelter in Collett Park this Sunday at 10:30am.

The event will feature a display from the Drifters model boat group, and light refreshments will be provided.

Once completed, the shelter will offer a protected outdoor space for community groups, including the Health Connect Team, health visitors, and other agencies to meet with clients.

It will also serve as a social hub for informal gatherings, supporting local residents of all ages.

Community feedback highlighted the need for a safe and accessible social space for young people aged 14-25, a role this shelter will help fulfil. Designed with comfort and inclusivity in mind, it will also provide a welcoming spot for visitors in wheelchairs, along with their carers and companions.
