New driving range at Mendip Golf Club is given the green light

Plans to build a new driving range at Mendip Golf Club, near Shepton Mallet, have been given the go-ahead.

A planning application to install a prefabricated eight-bay driving range on to a concrete base at the club on Golf Links Lane, Ashwick, by Mr James Boyce has been approved by Mendip District Council planners.

Other planning applications submitted in the Shepton Mallet area this week include:

Repairs to outbuilding including roof and external walls at Neighbourne Farm, Blackey Lane to Withy Lane, Neighbourne, have been applied for by Ms Hannah Noel.

Application for a certificate of lawful existing development for residential dwellinghouse use class (C3) at Paddock Lodge Lane off Holcombe Hill, Holcombe, has been made by Mr Jim Price.

Application for approval of details reserved by conditions 5 (hard and soft landscaping) on planning consent 2019/0581/FUL at Long Hill Farm, Folly Cottages To Arthurs Bridge, Ditcheat, has been made by Mr Andrew Fennell.

Prior approval for a proposed change of use of a building from Office Use (Class B1(a)) to a Dwellinghouse (Class C3) at 32A Walnut Grove, Shepton Mallet, is wanted by Mrs Lynne Herring.

Erection of a Portacabin and polytunnels for an Aquaponics and Hydroponics Centre on land at Forum Lane, Shepton Mallet, has been applied for by Mrs Ayton.

Application for approval of reserved matters following outline approval 2019/0035/OTA for the erection of an agricultural workers dwelling and associated access, matters of access/appearance/landscaping/layout/scale to be determined at The Portway, Turners Court Lane, Binegar, has been made by Mr D Harris and Miss S Jonas.

Proposed works to trees in a conservation area: T1-T3 - Maple - fell at The Haven, Cumhill Lane, Pilton, are wanted by Mrs Judy Ball.

Works to trees in a conservation area T1 (Macrocarpa) - fell to standing stem of 10ft; T2 (dead Conifer) - fell to ground level are wanted at Manor Cottage, Zion Hill, Oakhill.

Application to vary condition 2 (plans list) of planning approval 2018/2531/FUL at Thrupe House, Thrupe Lane, Masbury, has been made by Mr Rupert Page.

Application for a certificate of lawful existing development for use of a building as a single dwellinghouse falling within use Class C3 at Rose Cottage, Hembridge Road, East Pennard, has been made by Mr M and Miss A Chorlton and Fellingham.

Erection of a commercial building on land at Three Winds, Bolters Lane, Downside, Shepton Mallet, has been applied for by Mr and Mrs T Guidi.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have bee decided this week include:

Conversion of existing stone barn into ancillary accommodation within curtilage of Grade II listed Park Farm House, Forum Lane, Shepton Mallet, by Mr Humphrey Bowles has been approved.

Internal and external alterations to include conversion of attic space, reduced doorway opening with new door adjacent north porch, replace modern timber floor to cloakroom and WC with Limecrete, reconfiguration of south stair landing at second floor, and sundry other works as set out in the schedule of work at The Manor House, Wraxall Road to Folly Cottages, Ditcheat, by Mr and Mrs Andrew and Michelle Morris and Denton have been approved. Also approved are plans to reinstate ceilings to stables and store rooms, construct timber partition wall, insert flues for new boilers to serve main house, replace rotten windows and insert bat access points.

Demolition of existing barns and proposed erection of a dwellinghouse at Scarlet Withies Farm, Worminster Lane, North Wootton, by Mr and Mrs P Uphill has been approved.

Erection of farm workshop and storage building - retrospective at Stoke Bottom Farm, track between Harridge Wood and Giddy Lane, Stratton-on-the-Fosse, by Mr Thomas Marks has been approved.

Erection of a hanging sign, two fascia signs, two amenity boards and external lighting at the Knatchbull Arms, Stoke Hill, Stoke St Michael, by Mr Menhinick has been approved.

Proposed two storey rear extension, infill of existing porch and re-siting of front door at Glenmead, Stoke Hill, Stoke St Michael, by Mr Paul Baker has been approved.

Prior approval for a proposed change of use of agricultural building to a dwellinghouse (Class C3) and for associated operational development at an agricultural barn at Higher Farm, Bodden Lane, Bodden, by Mr William Davis has been refused.

Improved access to agricultural land (retrospective) on land at Limekiln Lane, Stoke St Michael, by Mr Andy Gregory has been approved.

Fell T12 Sycamore and replace with new tree at J H Haskins and Son Ltd, 64 High Street, Shepton Mallet, by Mrs Alice Archer has been approved.

Proposed single-storey garden room, covered walkway and pavilion to side, two-storey rear extension, front porch, reconfiguration of roof, re-cladding of existing extension and other internal and external alterations at Beech Tree Stud Farm, Crosselm Road, Upton Noble, by Mr and Mrs B Riley have been approved.

Application for a non-material amendment to permission 2019/1341/HSE to vary wall finish to render on north and east elevations at Totterdown Farm, Totterdown Lane, Pilton, by Ms S Kearle has been approved.
