The popular NASS Festival, a staple summer event at the Bath and West Showground in Shepton Mallet, has been put on hold for 2024.
The annual event, which draws approximately 30,000 attendees for a fusion of live music and skateboarding, will not go ahead next year due to escalating financial demands.
The festival's organisers released a statement explaining the difficult decision, attributing the suspension to "the significant increase in operational costs to run a show like NASS," coupled with the broader implications of the cost of living crisis.
"We're gutted to announce that NASS will not be taking place in 2024," the statement read, expressing the team's regret over the situation. The message continued with gratitude for the collective efforts that brought the event to life: "We want to say a huge thank you and heartfelt appreciation to all the artists, athletes, suppliers, partners, media and staff who have been part of NASS."
Acknowledging the impact on NASS supporters, the organisers reached out to the community: "And to you, our fans, thank you. NASS wouldn't have existed without you." They highlighted the privilege felt by the festival team in having been a chosen destination for many attendees, with some experiencing their inaugural festival at NASS.
The announcement has stirred responses from festival-goers, with several describing the decision as marking "an end of an era."
