Mendip Ramblers get ready for winter walking

Whatever the weather you'll find Mendip Ramblers out and about in the local area and beyond.

And it's not just the walkers - every week, rain or shine, the Working Party is at work, repairing and renewing gates and bridges on the rights of way.

The autumn months brought lots of opportunities for interesting walks with a real mix of sunny days and lots of muddy fields - that's what it's like to be a Rambler.

Many Mendip members joined in the Somerset Area holiday at Sidmouth, where the coastal path is very beautiful and very hilly.

Earlier in September some members went walking in Brittany - memorable for a spectacular barefoot walk across the bay to Mont St Michel. There were also linear walks near Sherborne  and pub walks.

Now our winter walking programme is well underway, with regular weekly walks and opportunities for walks further afield and non walking treats - Christmas lunch and in January a Barn Dance to shed the calories.

The Festival of Winter Walks includes walks from Boxing Day to New Year's Day and starting in January there are two long walks from Cranmore Tower to Alfred's Tower.

If this sounds daunting there are also short "Cup of Tea" walks. Something for everyone.

New walkers are always welcome and those new year resolutions might need a nudge. All details can be found via the red button below.
