Somerset Council has adjusted the waste collection schedule in Shepton Mallet due to the upcoming May bank holidays.

Residents should be aware that during the weeks starting Monday, 6 May, and Monday, 27 May, the collection of recycling, refuse, and garden waste will occur one day later than usual.

For instance, if your normal collection day is Monday, it will shift to Tuesday, and similarly, subsequent days will also move forward accordingly. Notably, collections scheduled for Friday, 10 May, and Friday, 31 May, will be rescheduled to Saturday, 11 May, and Saturday, 1 June, respectively.

Residents are advised to manage waste effectively by squashing, crushing, and flattening items to help reduce the volume.

This measure assists collection teams in reducing the number of trips needed to empty their trucks. All 16 recycling sites in the area will maintain their usual weekend hours, from 9am to 4pm, and will also be open on the bank holiday Mondays (6 May and 27 May) from 9am to 6pm.

For more details on recycling and the local recycling centres, visit the Somerset Council's website at www.somerset.gov.uk/recycling-collections.
