Man arrested for drink-driving after Audi ploughs into hedge near Shepton Mallet

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a white Audi A1 crashed into a hedge on the A371 near Shepton Mallet.
The incident took place shortly before 8:30pm on Wednesday, 28 August, in the village of Croscombe.
Emergency services, including police and ambulance crews, were called to the scene following reports of the vehicle colliding with the hedge. The driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving. He has since been released under investigation while he receives hospital treatment.
Avon and Somerset Police are now appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the vehicle or the moments leading up to the crash.
A police spokesperson said: "Police and ambulance crews attended after a call at 8:30pm on Wednesday, 28 August, reporting a vehicle in the hedge on the A371 at Croscombe. A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving and was later released under investigation pending hospital treatment."
