Raw Materials Manager - Shepton Mallet
This is a role that will involve working for one of Somerset's largest food manufacturers.
The successful Raw Materials Manager will be involved in routine tasks such as supplier and specification approval, risk assessments and investigative audits.
Candidates must have proven technical/raw material management experience within the food manufacturing industry.
The role of the Raw Materials Manager will involve:
- Supporting Customer audits on site - factory tours, traceability exercises and documentation review
- Technical responsibility for all raw materials delivered to site
- Managing all raw material and supplier approval documentation, ensuring it is held on file and up to date
- Reviewing supplier BRC status or Self-Audit questionnaire to determine approval of new supplier to site
- To determine raw material risk rating and implementation of any key controls required
- Maintaining Food Integrity risk assessment
- Assessment and approval of printed packaging deliveries
- Managing and co-ordinating packaging trials through the factory, where necessary
- To complete annual supplier performance review and take necessary action regarding poor performance
- To investigate and raise raw material complaints and issues with suppliers
- Trending of supplier complaints to identify ongoing/repeat issues
- Occasional auditing of key raw material suppliers
- Conducting Site Internal Audits as required, taking appropriate action where non-conformances are identified
- Attendance to NPD meeting
- Providing weekend cover via Technical "On Call" rota
Raw Materials Manager skills and experience:
- Food or science related degree or equivalent, or two years' experience working in technical or raw material management
- Certified HACCP qualification
- Experience of working in chilled food manufacturing and high care environments

Maintenance Engineer - Shepton Mallet
I'm currently looking for an electrically-biased Maintenance Engineer to join one of our clients. The company are a family run business and have just won some major contracts for the industry.
Due to an increase in production they are now looking for an extra electrically-biased maintenance engineer to join their ever expanding team.
Key roles:
- Identify areas of improvement activity and support and guide the CI process for existing processes.
- Influence the effective implementation of standards and safe working systems within maintenance programs throughout the plant.
- Identify maintenance opportunities and set a clear action plan to drive cost effective maintenance and plant efficiency along with carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment throughout the site.
- To ensure production are made aware when work has been completed on any machinery/services.
- To ensure all machinery and services are in working order and ready for production after maintenance periods.
- Provide support to other shift engineers and operations teams (first line maintenance) to develop functional engineering skills.
- Provide essential support to the Engineering Manager.
- Ensure site recognition as a person of high integrity, trust and honest in all dealings.
- The ideal candidate will be apprentice trained
- Familiar with PLC driven machinery - Siemens & Allen Bradley would be beneficial
- Experience within a production environment (FMCG)
- Basic mechanical knowledge
