Street Naming and Numbering Officer - Shepton Mallet
An employer based in Shepton Mallet is looking for a Street Naming and Numbering Officer on a temporary basis.
This is likely to be around three months but could be extended. This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week.
Main purpose of the job:
To provide technical support, training and development for Geographical Information Systems throughout the business.
To deliver the street naming and numbering service, and act as a central point of contact for all address creation and amendment for the local area.
To maintain the Local Land and Property Gazetteer in accordance with the British Standards BS7666 and with nationally agreed data entry conventions.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Educated to A-level or NVQ Level 3.
- Extensive experience of working with GIS.
- Experience and knowledge of using Microsoft Access and Excel for data recording and analysis.
- Experience of maintaining and developing local land and property Gazetteer/s.
- Experience of providing a street naming and numbering service.
- Detailed understanding of BS7666 standards for land and property Gazetteers and associated Data Entry Conventions.
- Detailed understanding of the legislation and process involved in performing street naming and numbering within a local authority.

Job description:
As a Systems Analyst you'll be responsible for providing polite and prompt responses to all customer queries and assist with development works ensuring timescales with the project release schedule are achieved.
Key accountabilities:
- Work directly with the IT Systems Analyst and assist in the design and development of new methods of integration within SGS products and tools
- Liaise with the other teams on future requirements for all products
- Produce adequate documentation for any development tasks
- Fully test products against the requirements
- Liaise with the Software Support team to help investigate customer faults and queries
- Provide technical software integration support to all teams and customers when required
- Provide customer training for SGS products
- Attend customer visits when required
- XML, CSV, FTP, API and other software integration methods
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Software support experience
- Microsoft tools and applications experience
The following attributes would be desirable, but not essential -
- Understanding of Microsoft technology development techniques
- Microsoft server administration and configuration
- Understanding of customs (HMRC) import and export procedures
- SQL, Software implementation and server technical support
- Delivery of customer training
- Direct experience of international trade
- Working within an ISO9001 environment

Permanent, full-time. Salary £22,000 to £25,000 per annum.
