Shepton Mallet police have increased their patrols in Collett Park following reports of anti-social behaviour involving youths after school hours.

Residents have raised concerns about excessive noise and fires being set in park bins and the brick shelter.

In response to these issues, the town team has been conducting visible patrols during both early and late shifts. These High Visibility Patrols (HVP) aim to deter anti-social behaviour and ensure the park remains a safe and pleasant environment for all visitors.

Residents are encouraged to approach the patrol team if they have any concerns or issues. Additionally, incidents can be reported online or by calling 101 to record the crime.

A police spokesperson said: The police are actively investigating instances of threats and assaults and are encouraging members of the public to come forward with any information. Along with the town council, we continue to work diligently to ensure that Collett Park remains a safe and welcoming place for all. Community cooperation is essential in these efforts, and residents are encouraged to report any incidents to help maintain the peace and safety of Shepton Mallet."
