Glastonbury ticket turmoil: Sale halted due to widespread registration lapses

The ticket sale for Glastonbury Festival has experienced a two-week postponement as some attendees were unaware their registration had lapsed.

Last month, a number of older profiles were removed, and it seems some individuals were not informed of this development.

To purchase tickets, customers are required to pre-register their details, a measure introduced to curb ticket scalping.

The festival organisers made the announcement a mere four hours before the coach travel inclusive tickets were scheduled to go on sale.

These specific tickets will now become available on 16 November at 18:00 GMT, while the general admission tickets will be up for grabs on 19 November at 09:00.

The registration portal will open again on Monday 6 November at noon and will close on Monday 13 November at 17:00.

On 2 October, customers received an email notification stating that registrations from before 2020 would be deleted, and they had until 30 October to re-register.

Some individuals only realised they needed to re-register after this deadline had passed. The festival organisers stated that the sale delay is a gesture of "fairness to those individuals".

For the 2024 festival, tickets are priced at £355 (with an additional £5 booking fee), an increase from this year's £335 ticket price.

The 2023 festival experienced a more significant price increase of £55, which Emily Eavis, the festival organiser, attributed to the "incredibly challenging times" post-pandemic and the "enormous rises" in associated costs.

The 2024 event marks the third instance of the festival being held since the pandemic, which led to the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 editions.

This globally renowned music festival is set to take place at Worthy Farm in Somerset from 26-30 June 2024, although the performer line-up is yet to be announced.
