Officers are seeking public assistance in their investigation of a serious assault that occurred at The Bath & West Showground near Shepton Mallet during a Halloween event.

The incident, which resulted in three men being assaulted, took place at the Westfest event at approximately 2:30 am on Sunday, 29th October.

Two of the victims were treated at the hospital for facial injuries, one of which included a fractured ear bone. Both men have since been released and are recuperating at home. The assault reportedly occurred following a confrontation about a taxi on the edge of the event site.

Given that the area was crowded at the time of the incident, the police are appealing to anyone who may have footage or information that could aid their investigation. This appeal extends to witnesses who were present at the event, as well as anyone who may have captured relevant footage on their mobile devices.

Additionally, several taxis were in the vicinity when the assault occurred. Taxi drivers are being urged to review their dashcam footage to see if they captured any part of the incident or the events leading up to it.

This appeal underscores the importance of community assistance in resolving such serious incidents. The police are committed to ensuring the safety of all event attendees and the broader community and are working diligently to investigate this matter thoroughly.

Members of the public with any information or footage that could assist in this investigation are encouraged to come forward. They can contact the police by calling 101 and quoting the reference 5223264161.

This incident has raised concerns about safety at large events and highlights the need for collective vigilance in ensuring such events remain safe for all attendees.
