As Shepton Mallet gears up for its vibrant carnival, significant road closures and diversions are now in place.

The carnival carts are currently parked on Cannards Grave Road, necessitating a full road closure in that area. However, all other roads remain open, with clear diversion signs guiding the traffic.

For residents in Tadley Acres, access is possible only via Whitstone Road, using either Hobbs Road or Webber Road. To facilitate smooth traffic flow, exit directional signs have been installed on lamp posts in Tadley Acres, directing traffic to Whitstone Road at Hobbs Road from Little Brooks Lane.

A local diversion route is available through Compton Road, Ridge Lane, and onto Whitstone Road, as indicated in the signage displayed.

For those accessing Field View and Field House Care Home, entry is only possible from the Council Office end of Cannards Grave Road, where fewer carts are parked.

The cottages and properties, including the Highwayman Inn, can be accessed as usual from the Flock Roundabout.

Please be aware that the carnival carts, being oversized vehicles, do overhang the middle of the road. This is the primary reason for the road closure while they are parked. Past incidents have shown that ignoring these signs can lead to damage to both the carts and other vehicles.

The Shepton Mallet Carnival is set to start at 7:30 pm tomorrow night, promising an evening of excitement and spectacle.
