Firefighters roll up their sleeves to help clean up Shepton

Shepton Mallet firefighters swapped hoses for litter pickers as they joined forces with volunteers for this year's Great British Spring Clean.
Crews from Shepton Mallet Fire Station took part in the town-wide clean-up, organised by Shepton Mallet Town Council, to help give the area a well-earned spruce-up.
Armed with their equipment, firefighters focused on cleaning road signs around the town to make it easier for drivers to see directions and stay safe on the roads. They also tackled the area surrounding the fire station itself.

They were just one of many groups who got stuck in over two weeks of activity, with residents, organisations and volunteers all pitching in to make a difference.
In a message on social media, a spokesperson for Shepton Mallet Town Council thanked everyone who took part, saying: "We've had a brilliant two weeks sprucing up the town and are so grateful to all the members of the public and organisations who set up their own events or volunteered for our litter picks and cleaning!"
Whether it was picking up litter, scrubbing signs or clearing pathways, the town's efforts haven't gone unnoticed — and the streets are looking all the better for it.
