As we edge closer to the festive season, Shepton Mallet has a weekend full of events that promise to bring joy and festivity to the community.

From young drivers learning the ropes to the classic charm of afternoon tea, there's something for everyone.

Young Driver Sessions at The Bath & West Showground

On Saturday, 25th November, The Bath & West Showground, our proud newsletter sponsor, will be hosting Young Driver sessions from 09:30 to 16:30. This event offers youngsters the unique opportunity to learn driving skills in a safe and controlled environment. It's a perfect chance for young aspiring drivers to get behind the wheel.

The showground has also revealed a great line-up of festive events here.

Christmas Market Stalls & Café at Ashwick & Oakhill Village Hall Also on Saturday, the Christmas Market Stalls & Café at Ashwick & Oakhill Village Hall will be open from 10:30 to 14:30. This Christmas market promises a delightful array of festive stalls and a cosy café to enjoy a warm drink and a snack.

Babycham Afternoon Tea at Kilver Court For those looking for a touch of nostalgia, Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet is hosting a Babycham Afternoon Tea from 13:00 to 15:00. This event brings back the classic 1950s Babycham charm, combined with a delicious afternoon tea spread.

Café Church at St James' Church On Sunday, 26th November, St James' Church on Bruton Road in Shepton Mallet invites you to Café Church from 09:30 to 10:15. It's a chance to enjoy a relaxed and informal church service accompanied by coffee and conversation.

Looking Ahead: The Royal Bath & West Show 2024 As we enjoy this weekend's festivities, let's not forget the Royal Bath & West Show set to return from 30th May to 1st June 2024. Tickets for this much-anticipated event will be going on sale soon. Celebrated for its agriculture, entertainment, and local culinary delights, the show promises to be a highlight of next year's calendar.

Festive Fun at the East Somerset Railway The East Somerset Railway is gearing up for the holiday season with a range of festive experiences, including a Christmas High Tea and the Santa Special train rides starting from 2nd December. These unique experiences offer a mix of festive treats, magical train rides to the North Pole Station, and unforgettable encounters with Santa. It's the perfect way to get into the festive spirit!
