Explore Shepton Mallet’s history with free heritage walk app
A free heritage walk app is helping locals and visitors explore Shepton Mallet's rich cultural history with eight GPS-assisted trails around the town.
The app offers an immersive experience, guiding users along routes that reveal both well-known landmarks and hidden historical gems.
As users follow the trails, the app provides audio commentary sharing stories of Shepton's past, making the town's heritage more accessible than ever.
There are eight themed walks starting from the Market Place: the Town Centre Trail, Cloth and Grain Trail, Education Trail, Religion Trail, Children's Trail, Brewing Trail, Trade and Industry Trail, and the People of Note Trail.
Each trail varies in length, difficulty, and accessibility, ensuring there's something for everyone.
The app also includes a map showing walking, cycling, and running routes in and around Shepton Mallet. Users can choose from a gentle stroll to a more challenging hike, with maps available for download to use offline on phones, watches, or e-bikes. The Komoot platform also allows users to create and customise their own routes.
Download the app today and see if you can complete all the trails: helloshepton.com/walking-cycling.
