Time is running out to enter Shepton Mallet's 2025 Photography Competition, with the deadline for submissions closing at 11pm on Monday, 20 January 2025.

This year's theme, "Treasures of Nature", challenges photographers to capture the beauty of the natural world — from striking landscapes and plant life to dramatic geological formations. However, in line with the judge's guidance, no animal photography will be accepted.

Renowned garden photographer Jason Ingram will return as judge, bringing his wealth of experience, including multiple wins at the Garden Media Guild Photographer of the Year Awards. Offering advice to entrants, he said: "Take time to finesse your composition, be creative, and remember that light is key. Early morning and sunset often provide the best conditions for capturing nature's finest moments."

Prizes up for grabs:

  • 18 & Over: £300
  • 12 to 17: £100
  • 11 & Under: £50

The competition is open to all ages and skill levels, with a £4 entry fee per photo for the 18 & Over category (maximum of five submissions allowed). Entry for under-18s is free, with up to three submissions per person.

The winners will be announced at a special prize-giving ceremony on Saturday, 22 February 2025, at 2pm in the Baptist Church, Commercial Road, Shepton Mallet.

Don't miss your chance to showcase your photography and be in the running for cash prizes. Submit your entries online before the deadline.

Get your shots in – because once the deadline passes, that perfect photo will have to wait until next year!
