Artists coming Into the Light for Shepton Mallet exhibition

By Guest 16th Jul 2021

After a period of uncertainty and isolation, two local artists are emerging from the darkness with an exhibition celebrating light as part of Somerset Art Works Open Studios 2020.

Angela Morley (garden designer, willow sculptor and ceramicist) and Joanna Briar (printmaker) are creating a pop-up studio at Pilton Cider on the Anglo-Trading Estate in Shepton Mallet.

Into the Light will feature new work and is about hope as we look forward to a brighter future. Visitors will be able to see lighting installations by both artists - Angela has created large scale willow lamp shades while Joanna's atmospheric ink drawings will be presented as table top lamps and lanterns.

Also on display will be ceramics, framed original drawings and prints plus smaller pieces of work and cards.

The venue is home to Pilton Cider who will be offering a range of keeved ciders to taste and to buy.

The exhibition will be open from Saturday September 19 until Sunday September 27 from 11am to 5pm.

Visitors will be requested to wear face coverings and numbers will be restricted to four at any one time in the venue.

Booking is recommended. Please email [email protected] for further information.
