Bristol Water is appealing for people in Evercreech to use as little water as possible while they try to resolve an issue which has been plaguing the village since last night. A burst water main cut of the water supply to much of the village, while other found their water pressure dropping to a trickle.

Crews worked overnight to try to fix the problem which they said was in a "challenging location, beneath a field with overgrown foliage and a nearby gas main."

At around 6.20am this morning Bristol Water reported that they had completed the repair, but that it could be some time before the supply was fully restored "to allow time for the main to refill with water and to re-pressurise." The company set up a hub at Acorns Pre-School in the village to supply water, and arranged delivery of water to vulnerable residents.

But by 4.30pm today (August 1) some residents were still reporting that they had no water. The Bristol Water website said: "Work is still ongoing and we expect your supplies to start to return to normal shortly. Please keep your water use to a minimum for now whilst the network is getting back to normal. Thank you for your understanding."
