Bloomin' brilliant! Gardeners' Question Time recorded at Kilver Court
BBC Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time was recorded at Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet last night as part of a special event organised by Shepton Snowdrop Festival in partnership with Kilver Court.
The ballroom at Kilver Court was specially refurbished for the occasion, providing a grand setting for the recording of two episodes of the long-running gardening programme.
The event featured a panel of celebrated gardening experts, including Anne Swithinbank, Matthew Wilson, and Pippa Greenwood, who answered questions from local gardening enthusiasts. The panel was chaired by Peter Gibbs, with the recording starting at 6pm after doors opened to guests from 5pm.
Gardeners' Question Time, a staple of BBC Radio 4 since 1947, attracts around two million listeners weekly. Known for its diverse recording locations, the programme has previously broadcast from Mount Snowdon, Buckingham Palace, and even 10 Downing Street.
The panel's answers are entirely spontaneous, with the experts never seeing the questions in advance, ensuring a lively and informative session for the audience.
The episodes recorded in Shepton Mallet will be broadcast on 24 January and 14 February, offering listeners across the country the chance to hear local gardening queries discussed by the expert panel.
