BBC releases archive footage from Shepton - including an interview with Michael Eavis before the very first Glastonbury Festival.

A selection of old news snippets, some featuring Shepton Mallet, have been released by the BBC.

There are some absolute gems among them, including an interview of Michael Eavis in 1970 before the very first Glastonbury Festival (and before he ditched trousers in favour of his now trademark shorts!). In the footage he says that he things it will be a "quick way to clear his overdraft" and that he has 30 stewards who will stop any gatecrashers.

There's also an snippet featuring Shepton residents concerned about an escaped polecat.
