All you need to know about 'Beaumont', the new drama filming at Shepton Mallet Prison
There's been a buzz of activity and a parade of 1970s police uniforms at Shepton Mallet Prison, thanks to the filming of the highly anticipated drama series, 'Beaumont'.
Here's a comprehensive guide on what we know so far about the series, slated to be one of the must-watch shows of next year.
Who's Behind It?
The 10-part drama series is being produced by Minim UK Ltd for FX Productions. It's expected to air on Disney+.
The Storyline
Bit of an interesting one, this.
The producers have said the series is set in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, titled 'Beaumont' and would follow the lives of several characters in Belfast during the 1970s, 80s and 90s.
But according to the Irish News, the series is based on Patrick Radden Keefe's best-selling book "Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland".
The series delves into the chilling life, death, and legacy of Jean McConville, a widowed mother of ten. Abducted by the PIRA in 1972, her remains were only discovered three decades later in 2003.
Setting and Time Frame
Filmed in Belfast, as well as Sheffield, Liverpool and Shepton Mallet, the series is authentically set in Belfast during the troubled times of the 1970s, 80s, and 90s.
Filming Schedule at Shepton Mallet
While the crew has been in Shepton Mallet Prison since late August, they will be wrapping up by Thursday, 7 September.
When Can We Watch It?
The series is expected to drop on Disney+ next year, although the exact release date remains under wraps.
In a statement, the 'Beaumont' crew expressed their appreciation for the local community's support during the filming,.
"We appreciate that we are very privileged to film in in your area and we do not take for granted the support we are shown from residents for which we are hugely grateful," a spokesperson said.
