As the weekend inches closer, Shepton Mallet is all set to sizzle with events that promise to transform the town into a festival of fun, creativity, and entertainment.

From violin performances to flea markets and a family festival, there really is something for everyone.

The hypnotic one-man whirlwind performance by Sieben at the Art Bank kicks off the weekend on a high note. Returning after a rousing show last year, Sieben will entertain audiences with a mix of violin and voice loops on his 5-string Kevlar violin, known affectionately as 'Kev'. This mesmerising evening will take place on Saturday, July 15, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, offering an unforgettable musical experience.

But the excitement doesn't stop there. Sunday, July 16, will bring the thrill of the hunt with the Giant Flea Market at The Bath and West Showground. From 9:30 am onwards, visitors can browse through over 250 inside and outside stalls offering a plethora of items, including retro-furniture, vintage clothing, arts, crafts, and more. The market is the perfect place for treasure hunters, and to keep energy levels high, a restaurant, café and an outdoor food court will be available for refuelling.

Saturday morning will also see the streets of Shepton Mallet come alive with the All the World's Our Playground Festival. This magical family theatre festival will fill the town centre with an array of engaging activities, including theatre shows, dance displays and walkabout wonders. Organised by the Shepton Mallet's Arts Ambassadors, this event is a wonderful demonstration of the creativity and imagination of the town's young people. The festival is free to all, with a suggested donation of £2 per adult, and promises a day filled with joy and entertainment for everyone.

The West Shepton Skate Park will host the much-awaited Skate Jam for the sportier attendees. Following its success in 2021, the Skate Jam is making a comeback on Saturday, July 15. From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, the park will host workshops, demonstrations and competitions for riders of all abilities and a professional demonstration to kick off the competitions. The day promises to be a haven for skateboard, scooter, and BMX enthusiasts.

Finally, the weekend will wrap up with a dash of Broadway in Somerset. Caryford Community Hall will host the hilarious musical comedy, The Producers. Based on Mel Brooks' much-loved Academy Award-winning movie, the show is destined to provide a wonderful evening of laughter, song and dance. The show will take place on Saturday, July 15, with tickets priced at £13.20.
