Shepton Mallet throw away lead as Corsham hit back with three

By Laura Linham 21st Oct 2025

Shepton Mallet were dumped out of the FA Vase in a 3–1 defeat to Corsham Town after a second-half collapse at The Playing Fields on Saturday, 18 October 2025.

The hosts went in front just before half time thanks to a sharp finish from Lewis Coleman after great work by Monty Burgess and Ashton Shanley. Coleman's all-action display later earned him Man of the Match.

Shepton had defended superbly in the first half, with key tackles from Joel Sisson and James Sharkey, while debutant Rushaun Walker-Brown showed early promise off the bench.

But just two minutes after the restart, Chris Lines levelled it for Corsham with a free kick from the edge of the box. The visitors then took the lead on the hour mark through a Lewis Gilchrist penalty after Burgess brought down a Corsham attacker in the area.

Nick McCootie wrapped it up with a clean strike from 15 yards. Jake Sloggett went close for Shepton late on but the visitors finished stronger and nearly added a fourth.
