Landlords in Shepton Mallet with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of less than E will receive a letter from Mendip District Council over the next few weeks urging them to ensure their property has a rating of E or above.

They will be asked to confirm if works specified in their EPC have been addressed to improve the energy rating otherwise they may be committing an offence of letting a property that does not meet the minimum energy efficiency standards.

The pedestrianised area of Town Street and the Market Place will see the paving slabs replaced

Following ongoing discussions between Somerset County Council and Shepton Mallet Town Council, the green light has been given to a resurfacing proposal for the Market Place and Town Street, due to begin in the spring.

The proposal, agreed at a town council meeting last month, consists of replacing the existing paving with a modern resin surface in keeping with the area's heritage.
