A planning application has been submitted to Mendip District Council for the conversion of the skittle alley at the George Inn, Croscombe, into letting bedrooms.

The application for the conversion of the skittle alley to three letting bedrooms and a laundry room, and open terrace extensions to the south elevation at the George Inn, Long Street, Croscombe, has been submitted by Peter Graham.

Youth support is being offered during the lockdown

Since temporarily closing the doors on its physical youth clubs within Mendip, YMCA Brunel Group has continued to support young people in varying ways, thanks to the support of Shepton Mallet Town Council.

Keeping in contact with the young people it supports has allowed the charity, which was previously known as YMCA Mendip, to stay reactive to their current needs, and the difficulties they are facing in these uncertain times.

The Prime Minister is expected to spell out the new tier guidelines today

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce details of what and how new guidelines about coronavirus will be implemented when the current period of lockdown ends on Wednesday, December 2.

Before the second national lockdown was imposed Mendip was graded in Tier One, but on the resumption it is expected the government will make changes in the levels of restrictions imposed in each tier.

A planning application for the conversion of the Duke of Cumberland in Holcombe into a farm shop and micro pub has been approved by Mendip District Council.

The application for the conversion of a free house into a farm shop and kitchen cafe, attached micropub and side extension for added seating areas, plus first floor alterations for two separate staff accommodations, was submitted by Toby Brett.

The Conservatives have been accused of "running scared" from Somerset's voters after the party voted to ask the government to delay next year's local elections.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is currently assessing whether Somerset's five existing local councils should be reorganised into either one or two new authorities.
