Shepton Mallet Gymnasts excel at English Championships
Shepton Mallet Gymnastics Club tumblers travelled to Telford International Centre in June for the English Silver Tumbling Championships.
An impressive six of the club's tumblers were selected to compete for the South West at these high-level English Championships. They competed against the top tumblers from each region in England.
Alice Dillion took home an impressive silver medal at regional level 2. Alice's tumbling was superb in her final run, perfectly sticking her landing earning her the silver medal.
18-year-old Alice has trained with Shepton Mallet Gymnastics Club from a very young age, working her way through the club's gymnastics programme. She leaves the club this summer to start university. She will be hugely missed, and her club wish her all the best.
Also competing were Joseph Thompson and Alfie McCulloch in the regional level 1 competition. Both boys showed everyone how hard they have been training with Alfie winning a bronze medal, and Joe earning a very respectful 7th place.
Another podium position for the club was Wesley Talbot with a bronze medal at club level 5. Wesley has improved immensely this year. He works consistently hard and it has paid off with this fantastic achievement.
For Nathaniel Halls, this was his third English Championship in a row, missing the podium by just 0.2 points at regional level 2. Nathaniel impressed everyone with his tumbling and competed on track with great determination.
Hazel McEntee returned to the English Championships for the second time, now competing at regional level 1. Hazel competed three clean runs and was placed an impressive 13th in a very large group of experienced gymnasts.
