Shepton Judo Club is now back up and running again after 14 months of Covid restrictions.
This resulted in the club being run, for nearly a year-and-a-half, over Zoom. The sessions, although remote, were great fun and well attended, and kept everyone in regular contact throughout the craziness.
As the classes were more accessible to everyone, the club had players from all over the country attending regularly.
A club spokesperson said: "Weight equipment was borrowed and circulated between players and we even ran junior judo sessions with parents' sofas and kids' teddies bearing the brunt of the kids' aggression.
"The kids' scavenger hunts were particularly enjoyable, and the kids even managed an online grading.
"Fortunately with Covid restrictions being relaxed, the club is back holdings sessions in person again, with our first 'fight night' on Friday.
"This first meet proved very popular with players travelling from Plymouth, Bournemouth, Yeovil, and Bristol to attend.
"Everyone invited had to provide a clear lateral flow test to attend, ensuring we kept everyone safe in the club and the community safe.
"Shepton Judo Club trains weekly at Doulting and West Pennard, it is open to anyone over the age of five to come and give it a go. Complete beginners and returning players are made most welcome.
"Why not get the kids to give it a go, help build their confidence in a safe fun environment, with classes restarting from a summer break in September?"
