The willow for the Shepton Mallet Lantern Festival lanterns comes from Musgrove Willows on the Somerset Levels.
On Sunday December 8 Ellen and Mike Musgrove will visit the Lantern Festival workshop and demonstrate how to make a willow rose knot, used for holding the willow bundles together.
A rescheduled public event in Shepton Mallet to discuss the creation of Somerset's first Climate Emergency Strategy has been confirmed.
The Have Your Say drop-in at Shepton is one of a number that will take place in each district council area in January and February, being run by the Somerset Climate Action Network (SCAN) on behalf of Somerset's four district councils and the county council.

A new chairman from a Shepton Mallet business has taken over at the helm of Somerset Chamber of Commerce's board and will be joined by a host of new faces, representing businesses from across the county.
Businesswoman Helen Lacey, managing director of Red Berry Recruitment which has offices in Shepton Mallet and Yeovil, took over the chairmanship from outgoing chairman Greg Saunders, director of Stanhurst Consulting in Taunton, at Somerset Chamber's annual meeting.

Window Wanderland is a fun community project that started in Bristol in 2015, with amazing results, and Shepton Mallet will host this unique event in March 2020.

Riverford, the organic fruit and vegetable business, has donated fruit for the children attending the Shepton Mallet Lantern Festival workshops.
A director of the company, Patrick Blandford, delivered the first box himself to the first lantern workshop yesterday (November 30).

At Shepton Mallet Town Council's full council meeting this week, the council agreed, after a healthy debate, to increase council tax next year.
The proposed increase will take the current budget from £452,765 to £580,252 which is an increase of £127,487. The calculates as an approximate increase of 73p per week on a Band D household.
Shepton Mallet Lantern Festival workshops will start this weekend.
They are taking place on Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1, from 10am to 4pm at Paul St Community Centre in the town.
