While the nursing profession around the world is celebrating the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, for one nurse 2020 is especially important as it marks her 50th year as a nurse.
Sheron Stephenson is ophthalmology nursing manager at Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre, and she began her nursing career in South Africa in 1970.

Grants of up to £1,000 are available for people living in Shepton Mallet with physical disabilities, learning disabilities or both to take part in music therapy, music experiences and outdoor adventures.
The grants are made possible by a fund called Mary's Beat, which has been created in memory of Mary Christabel Dyer.

Free period products are to be made available to schools in Shepton Mallet, helping to break down stigmas and ensure no young person's education is disrupted by their period.
From tomorrow (Monday January 20), schools across the country will be able to order a range of period products from supplier phs Group, making period products readily available for all young people when they need them.
There will be temporary traffic lights near the centre of Shepton Mallet this week.
On Tuesday January 21, Wessex Water will be using traffic lights on the B3136 between Board Cross and the Tesco roundabout, so it can repair or replace a cover and frame.
