Four fire crews, including a team from Shepton Mallet were called to a two vehicle high speed collision at Long Street in Dinder late last night (February 5).

At least one person was trapped inside each vehicle and so fire engines from Wells and Shepton Mallet and a Heavy Rescue Tender from Glastonbury were quickly mobilised to the incident location.

Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre continues to be a hit with patients, as they have given the hospital the highest marks across all departments in the national Friends and Family Test – making it one of the best-performing hospitals in the country.

The 1,031 patients who completed the survey at the hospital throughout the month of January gave it a perfect score of 100 per cent for every single department covered by the Friends and Family Test.

Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre has outperformed the national average, according to the latest results from the annual Patient-Led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE).

PLACE assessments are undertaken by teams of NHS and private/independent health care providers, which must be made up of at least 50 per cent members of the public (known as patient assessors).
