A major scheme to improve the main roads around Pilton could be scrapped due to a lack of "community and political support".

Somerset County Council submitted plans to the government in July 2019 for a major road improvement scheme for the A39 and A361 through Glastonbury and Pilton.

The Mid-Somerset Agricultural Society has successfully secured planning permission to begin work on its new site to host the annual Mid-Somerset Show in Shepton Mallet.

After the purchase of the land between Cannard's Grave Road and Dark Lane in Shepton Mallet last August, the society has been working to secure planning permission to build a permanent building on the site.

The crashed car this morning

A garden wall was destroyed and two parked cars badly damaged after a BMW crashed into the side of a house in Holcombe last night (February 25).

At about 8pm, the car crashed into the house on Holcombe Hill, demolishing the garden wall and coming to rest against the house.
